I have released kopete-facebook 0.1.4 which fixes idle status of contacts and message sending.

I still have some important bugs, which I hope I can fix before the openSUSE 11.2 release.

From those known bugs, one is the inability to reconnect (go offline and offline), which is due to the “myself” contact using the email as userid, which is in turn due to a Kopete limitation of needing to know an id, but facebook sends it after login. I have tried so many hacks (like switching the myself contact at runtime), but all have other side effects.

Another one is a crash at exit, which I still can’t understand. Help appreciated.

Note: this plugin is not affiliated with Facebook in any way.

Should appear here soon (or build it yourself).

  7. hello,

    i’ve little problems with the plugin. I have installed it and I’ve added my account on Kopete. In the past i could connect but now i can’t.

    Could anyone please help me??

  8. Hi –

    I think Facebook broke something (again!) and this plug-in no longer works.

    It logs in successfully but receives an invalid buddy list response and so cannot converse with FB Chat.

    I’m using v0.1.4 with Kopete 0.80.2 & KDE 4.3.2.

  9. I rebuilt the RPMs for Fedora 12 (x86_64) today using the git master, the buddy list is showing with that version.

  11. not sure where to report bugs… but logging doesn’t work with both sending and receiving users (only receiving). It doesn’t have my status set the same as my other statuses. Although it seems to remember username/password those options aren’t provided in the configure options. Sometimes see offline users, also I sometimes don’t see online users.

    also I often get repeat messages (not sure if this is a plugin bug or a fb bug).

  12. erm, im confused….

    i builded the plugin on my Gentoo machine (no errors) but which file (the actual plugin after compiling) need i to place in the kopete plugin folder?

    and the plugin folder is /usr/include/kopete/ right?

  13. just do make install and compile it with -DCMAKEINSTALLPREFIX=/yourkdeprefix (/usr on openSUSE)
